Weisberg
Publisher Emeritus
David E. Weisberg has been involved with the application of
computer technology to engineering design for over 35 years. He has a BS and an MS in
Civil Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In the early 1960s
he was the lead programmer on one of the earliest attempts to apply computer graphics
techniques to automated drafting. Weisberg has many years of experience in the
development, planning, marketing and sales of CAD/CAM systems used in electrical,
mechanical and AEC design and in technical documentation while with Calma, Tektronix and
for 12 years, Auto-trol Technology.
In late 1991, Weisberg left Auto-trol to start
Technology Automation Services, the publisher of the well-respected monthly newsletter for
engineering management, Engineering Automation Report. The company acquired The
Anderson Report on Computer Graphics in 1994 and merged it with EAReport. In
the fourth quarter of 1996, TAS acquired and redesigned A-E-C Automation Newsletter,
a 17 year-old publication that will continue to be published separately from EAReport.
Technology Automation Services provides consulting services
to users and vendors of CAD/CAM systems and to investors in these companies. Weisberg
is a frequent contributor to numerous other publications including CADalyst, Pro/E The
Magazine, Computer Graphics World, and MicroStation Manager and is often quoted in
publications such as InfoWorld and Computerworld.
Weisberg is a frequent speaker at seminars and
conferences where his particular emphasis has been on managing CAD/CAM technology and in
the directions the industry is taking. He is a Charter Member of National Computer
Graphics Association, a Charter Member of the Computer Graphics Pioneers and its current
president, a member of the NCGA CAD Society, American Society of Manufacturing Engineers,
AM/FM International, American Society of Military Engineers, and a member of the U.S.
Navys Advisory Committee on Computer-Based Design.
